Year 6

Welcome to our Year 6 class page.

Miss Reid is class teacher in 6A and Miss Tomlinson is the class teacher in 6B. We are also lucky to have additional teachers working in year 6, Mrs Casella and Mr Whittaker. Year 6  support staff are Mrs Mackmood and Mrs Begum.

We have had a busy year so far, working hard towards the SATS. All of the Year 6 staff are really proud of the children’s hard work.

World Book day 2018!

Can you guess our whole school theme? Y6 certainly enjoyed dressing up.

This year, our year 6 children have taken part in the Heartstart school schemes, which train over 100,000 schoolchildren in life saving skills each year. See below photographs of our children being trained by members of the BHF.

Wonderful Work

During our topic ‘Blood heart’ the children investigated and dissected sheep’s hearts. They had a wonderful time identifying the chambers, veins and arteries. Here are some of the photographs taken during the lesson.

During our topic ‘A child’s war’ children were lucky enough to be visited by members of staff from Oldham Coliseum. They enjoyed getting into character during a workshop that had them recreating a war scene, writing letters home in role as a soldier and being evacuated to the countryside. Have a look at what the children got up too!

On a cold December day, Year 6 visited the Stockport Air Raid Shelter and Museum as part of our topic ‘A child’s war’. We had a great time and learnt lots of interesting facts about the war. It was very cold in the tunnels and very dark! Take a look.

We have attached some examples of fantastic work from across the year group.
